WHY I LOVE 'VIEWS' (Part 1)
I can't think of a many artists bigger than Drake in music. A highly anticipated album, VIEWS, recently dropped and I am in love with it. My first impressions on the album starts with the first song "Keep the family close." and the interpretation of this intro compared to others. It set the mood for a story a show if you can imagine. However not to be drowned in an uneven intro compared to the rest of the songs, it picks up with "9". I believe this is a really different look at an athem that could have been redundant and played out. "Turned the six upside down, its a 9 now."
"U with me?" No really to make sure your prepared for the wave sounds that connect every track, Drake added this keeper. A direct and honestly look at relationships and there every stage. Clever word play follows as always. My favorite part is at 3:27.
And in case that song didn't make you get the lowkey feels, this next song "Feel no ways" can definitely change that. "Had to let go of us to show myself what I could... Now you talking down on my name, on purpose." The song follows with an upbeat squad song, "Hype" which is more than not, a shot at Meek Mill amid many subtle bars. "VIEWS already a classic" on track 5.
"Weston Road Flows" will open that conversations door with a swat team kick, no really the samples and lyrics combined with a crisp kick makes the song timeless. An honest track about a rough summer two thousand fifteen amidst rumors, most of which he remained quiet. He did continue releasing music.
Another look at relationships with "Redemption" a clever and smooth ride into his point of VIEW. I really like the singing, I think it goes well.
"With You" is a fresh and cool sound with the addition of PND (PartyNextDoor). It is definitely a good song to cruise to along coastal PCH. Drake added a fresh and consistent verse on this one, nothing too deep but something wavy. Jeremih does feature in it. If you listen closely.
PIMP C joined Drake on this one, its a nice vibe and the melody is catchy. I like the incorporation of dvsn, an OVO label member. "Faithful" is a good song to chill to and have Drizzy set the mood.
"Still Here" is a good track that reminds me of TOPSZN days, pre future collab days. Drakes upbeat bars and excellent pronounced "I can tell" is my favorite. Every bar counts for Drake, a virtue in today's Hip Hop.
